Zuzunaga Cavero was orphaned as a boy in Peru. When he was 23 he was introduced to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints by a friend and was soon converted.
He served as a missionary, and prior to leaving he preached a sermon at which 30 of his relatives were present and later converted. He has held a number of local church offices in Lima, and in 1998 he was called to membership of the Fourth Quorum of the Seventy, the body governing the LDS church in Latin America.
