There appear to be two versions of the story of Montu, or Chons.

According to the "Theban Triad" Internet page cited below, Mut, the sky and mother goddess, and her consort, Amun, adopted Montu, after giving birth to Khonsu, but they disowned him soon afterwards. Montu was the original Theban war god.

According to the Encyclopedia Mythica, Mut and Amun adopted the moon god, Chons, whose name is suspiciously similar to Khonsu.
