Holmes, Ann
Holmes was adopted as a baby in the late 1940s. Her birth mother was 23 and unmarried, her father an American.
She was director of the National Housing and Town Planning Council. She has twice unsuccessfully contested seats for Parliament, and been on the boards of two health authorities. She is now an independent consultant.
In 1995 she traced her birth mother and has a good relationship with her and other members of her birth family.
