Dr. Haas was born to an unmarried woman in Detroit, Michigan, and raised in Los Angeles, California. He has degrees fromHe is retired, but tapes a weekly radio program on KCLA.
He is an advocate of adoptees knowing who their birth parents are. As an adult he traced his birth mother, but she had already died, and he has also traced other members of his birth family.
