She began working as a professional actress in 1995. Unusually for a non-white, she has avoided being typecast as The Asian Character and usually plays characters originally intended to be white. Her film credits include Bring it On (2000), Fate Totally Worse Than Death (2000), and Courtship of Eddie’s Father (2003); her TV career includes parts in Dawson’s Creek (as Heather Tracy), Dark Angel (as Brin), Clueless (as Nicole) and The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air (as Janet).
