Barberie was born in Ontario and adopted as a baby by an electrician and a nurse, Jim and Mariel Warry. Her birth parents, immigrants from Ireland and England, felt they were too young to be parents.

She graduated from Mohawk College in Ontario. In 1990 she began working as a television weather forecaster in Canada but emigrated to the USA in 1992 for work for Fox TV in Miami. In addition to weather forecasting for KTTV Fox 11 in Los Angeles, she has appeared in television sitcoms and presented other shows.

She was formerly married to the baseball player Bret Barberie.

In 2001 she traced her birth parents and has an ongoing relationship with them.
