1948-

Australian Aboriginal writer

Anderson was born in Victoria, Australia and named after a dingo that witnessed his birth. When he was 10 years old he ran away from Moonee Ponds to escape government agents in the area to kidnap Aboriginal children (see Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children).

He never saw his mother again and has not seen his sister for over 40 years.

He has traveled widely in Australia and New Zealand and worked as a drover, meatworker, fisherman and crane operator. He now lives in Katherine and is a full-time writer. In 1995 he received the David Unaipon Award.
