Åhlstad, Simon

1972-

Indian-Swedish athlete

Åhlstad was born in India and adopted by a Swedish family in 1974. He suffered from polio as a child but has become a champion swimmer. In the 1992 Barcelona Paralympics he won the 200 meter medley and 200 meter breast-stroke; in 1996 at Atlanta he won the 200 meter medley again; in 1995 he won the European Mastership Games 200 meter medley. By profession he is an economist.
